Bobsleigher Rebekah Wilson, from Manchester, will be competing in heat one of the women’s bobsleigh race at Sochi later today.
The 22-year-old, from Altrincham, originally trained as a track sprinter, but turned her attention to the two-women bob in 2010 on her coach’s advice.
Talking to ITV Granada Reports last year, she said: “I know that when I’m in that [Olympic] environment I’m going to be going for a medal. I think we’ve got the ability so we’ll be striving to be the best.”
If Rebekah does get a podium finish, she will be Britain’s first female bobsleigher to win an Olympic medal.
